#PactDays - Erdaian #ValespianPact

Welcome to Thursday's Pact Days! Today, we have the Erdaian.

This is a species that hasn't been introduced yet. Like the Dire D'Noss, the Erdaian are also a favorite of mine.

A couple of side notes: For a list of species that have been posted so far, see the The People of Valespia pageI'm placing these in alphabetical order so I won't unintentionally place importance on any specie. I will leave off information on the species that will spoil future books. My standard sheet has the same categories for all species. So there will be blank categories just because that species didn't need them.

Enjoy!

Species: Erdaian (enhanced humans)
Planet: Gaia
Other races on the planet:
Planetary Terrain:
Capitol: Anthropoi (Greek meaning both men and women)

Patron Ryo Pardeep:

Description: average height range 5'11" to 7'4". Humanoid in shape but more robust, heavy muscles and very dense bones. Darker skin tones. Light colored hair is unusual among them.

Advance subspecies of human, and technologically more advanced than Terrens. The Erdaian despise humans/Terrens. If asked, they aren't humans, barely acknowledging a shared origin with the Terrens.

Survival of the fittest – dirty tricks – purists.

History: The Stonewall Corporation collected mutant children from the wasteland planets, selecting only the mutations they found useful for advancement and the benefit of the people under the Company's umbrella. Stonewall Corporation was a smaller company, not a part of the Big Four and they were looking for a leg up so they could initiate a hostile takeover of one of the Four. Tapping the genetics of those mutated humans and figuring out how to give the enhancement to people of their choosing created a torturous environment for these ill-gotten children to live in.

Ten years later, these children—now teenagers—escaped from Stonewall, taking all the captives with them and destroying everything in their path. They stole what they could, including starships and escaped to one of the worlds, Gaia, controlled by Stonewall. One of the ships they stole was an experimental, faster than light starship.

They kicked the Stonewall colonists off Gaia and sent out ships to gather more of the mutated to them. The Company had been putting people on planets/moons that weren't fully terraformed, hoping that those who survived would have a useful mutation, deeming them expendable. Later, when other humans arrived on the terreaformed world, the occupants were pushed to the side, having their work and homes taken from them. This ill treatment gave the Erdaians the upper hand when they went to speak to these forsaken colonists. They were ruthless in their bid to survive and sided with the Erdaians. The Company then hired mercenaries to hunt the mutated to put them down.

When the displaced colonist were brought to Gaia, they challenged the teenagers and got their asses whipped. Those original teenagers developed a ruling society that still stands, the family houses are strong pillars to this day. The leaders of these Houses are the deadliest of the Erdaians called Titans.

Occasionally, the Houses will see a person and recognize their greatness. Instead of challenging them to prove their strength, the Houses will name the person "progenitor" and start a new house. People fight for the honor to enter the new progenitor's House.

They believe in the survival of the fittest within their own society. Those who are weaker are not a member of a House but stay in the general population. But even those in the general population live by The Code. Conflict is an accepted part of life and many Erdaians have the right to challenge another to ritual combat, which cannot be interfered with by others and is always to the death. In such situations, it isn't uncommon for entire families to challenge each other. In such fights, both sides are expected to use all the resources at their disposal, including dirty tricks and other subterfuge.

Despite this, Erdaians are quite tolerant of the short comings of other species, since they regard all others as inherently inferior, albeit potentially useful in a limited way. They are strict about their breeding and won't consider mating outside their own society.

The only race they don't truly trust are the Terrens. They actively hate them.

They work with the T'Sali, acting as front men for the T'Sali. Responsible for several rebellions that lead to the Free Trade Organization, which they eventually joined.

Their tech is superior to the Terrens.
